Woodward power converters chosen for Nordsee Ost

Woodward Governor will supply power converters for REpower Systems' planned Nordsee Ost wind project.

GERMANY: The Concycle converters, to be made at Woodward's factory in Kempen, Germany, will control and stabilise voltage and frequency of electricity generated by 48 of REpower's 6MWturbines planned for the North Sea project, which is targeted for construction between 2011 and 2013.

The deal extends Colorado-based Woodward's link with REpower, which has included power converter supply agreements for 5MW and 6MW turbines since 2004, most recently with the commissioning of converters in turbines at the Alpha Ventus offshore project.
