Aker wins deal at Nordsee Ost

Norway's Aker Verdal will deliver steel foundations worth €115m ($141m) for the 48 6MW turbines at RWE Innogy's Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm.

OSLO: The first of the foundations is due to be transported from RWE Innogy's offshore base port at Bremerhaven, Germany, in late 2011 to the deepsea construction site northeast of Helgoland. The 50-metre jacket foundations, which each weigh 550 tonnes, will be placed at water depths of 22-25 metres.

Nordsee Ost is expected to be completed in 2013.
