Siemens seeking a partner for China

Germany's Siemens confirms it is in talks with a potential partner to set up a wind-turbine manufacturing joint venture in China.



BEIJING: Such a venture with a local player would help Siemens compete in the crowded but booming Chinese wind market. China is the fastest-growing wind-power market globally, doubling its installed capacity in each of the past four years to 12.2 gigawatts (GW) in 2008. Beijing is expected to raise its wind- power target to 150GW by 2020.

Siemens already has joint ventures in steam turbines with Shanghai Electric, a big power- equipment company that started manufacturing wind turbines last year, and says it wants 10bn yuan ($1.5bn) sales from the Log in to read complete article.
