EU and Japan in talks to co-ordinate action

A high-level delegation from the EU is in Tokyo this week to co-ordinate action between the European Union and Japan on climate change. The move follows talks to boost green energy technology links.

Environment ministers from the Czech Republic and Sweden (current and future holders of the rotating EU presidency) and a top official to European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas have been holding meetings with Japan’s Environment Minister Tetsuo Saito to try to pave the way for an international agreement to cut carbon-dioxide emissions ahead of the crucial UN meeting on climate change in Copenhagen at the end of the year.
