This pilot project — a partnership with the US Department of Energy (DOE) and manufacturer Xtreme Power — will demonstrate the system’s ability to mitigate the variability of wind energy and contribute to grid stability. Early results have been promising.
In March, the local grid operator, Ercot, lost a generation source, which affected the frequency of power in the system.
