DONG alone in Anholt bidding

Denmark's DONG Energy is the only bidder for the 400- megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm off the Danish island of Anholt in the Kattegat sea.

The Danish Energy Agency said only one company had submitted a binding offer. It will now examine whether the bid is in accordance with tender requirements.

DONG confirms it has bid for Anholt - a project where total investment is expected to be up to DKr10bn ($1.8bn).

"The project will fit well into our 85/15 plan to significantly increase our portfolio of renewable energy and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions," says Anders Eldrup, chief executive of DONG.

Anholt is expected to produce its first power in 2012 and, upon completion in 2013, supply the consumption of 400,000 homes.
