Native Americans have chief role to play in renewables

Tribal lands can play a major role in helping America meet renewables goals, while providing green jobs, income and natural-resource protection for economically depressed communities, according to a report by the National Wildlife Federation.

US: Tribes own and manage more than 385,000sq km of lands, which are estimated to have potential for 17.6 terawatt hours a year of solar energy. The lands also have abundant biomass, geothermal and wind-energy resources.
