SKF in $181m bearings deal

Swedish gearbox bearings specialist SKF has secured a SKr1.2bn ($181m) long-term agreement (LTA) from a major wind turbine manufacturer for slewing ring bearings by its Kaydon unit.

The bearings are for the North American and Brazilian markets.

SKF had acquired Kaydon Corp. at the end of 2013.

“Although we initiated the negotiations for this LTA before we were acquired by SKF, the expansion of our global footprint in combination with SKF was a key factor in being awarded this contract,” says Stephen Curtis, director for renewable energy business at Kaydon Bearings.

Kaydon is a diversified industrial manufacturer for  friction control products (bearings), velocity control products and specialty products, including environmental services.
