Danish wind turbine maker Vestas has received a firm 148MW order from developer First Wind for the Oakfield wind park in Maine, US.

The order is a call-off on a master supply agreement (MSA) announced in December 2013 for multiple US projects, the potential of which totals 718MW. With today’s order, Vestas has secured 298MW under this MSA.

Vestas will supply 48 of its V112.3.0 MW turbines in the second quarter of 2015, with commissioning of the wind farm expected by the fourth quarter 2015.

“This order underlines the strong partnership between Vestas and First Wind, one of the leading wind developers in the US,” said Chris Brown, president of Vestas’ sales and service division in the US and Canada.

Vestas’ factories in Colorado are expected to be involved in the manufacturing for this project. To meet customer demand, Vestas is adding more workers at three of its Colorado factories – the blade factory in Windsor as well as the blade and nacelle factories in Brighton.

The order includes a 10-year service agreement.
