EDF commissions first project in Polish wind-power push

French renewables group EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF-EN) has commissioned its first wind project in Poland.

The completion of the 48MW Linowo wind farm in the northerly Grudziadz region marks the start of a push by EDF EN to become a “major player” in the emerging Polish wind sector, says the company.

It acquired Linowo – which uses 24 Vestas turbines – in mid-2012 as one of first acquisitions by EDF EN Polska, its newly-formed subsidiary in the country.

The renewables unit of French giant EDF also bought local developer Starke Wind, which has more than 230MW of advanced-stage wind projects in its pipeline.
