SunPower sells 579MW of US PV

SunPower has sold two mega PV projects totalling 579MW in California’s Antelope Valley to MidAmerican Solar, part of US billionaire Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate.

SunPower will remain on board as engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the two arrays, which, taken together, represent the world’s largest PV project. Construction will commence in early 2013 and finish in 2015 – sooner than prior estimates suggested.

The companies did not disclose the purchase price.

MidAmerican Renewables is among the largest investors in US wind, with nearly 4GW of capacity on its books.
