E.ON installs Amrumbank West rig

German utility E.ON has completed the installation of the offshore transformer station of the 288MW Amrumbank West wind park in the German North Sea, which it says is on track to enter service in the fall of 2015.

The transformer station will gather electricity from 80 turbines and transmit it to a converter station from where it will be transported 100 kilometres to the mainland.

"From planning to installation, this was a significant engineering achievement, one that affirms our position as a global leader in offshore wind,” says Eckhardt Rümmler, head of E.ON’s generation business.
