Plans are in place to install solar panels in Quang Binh province and a wind power plant in Ninh Thuan province.
A solar-powered grid will be installed under an agreement signed by Schneider Electric Vietnam and Quang Binh province last week.
The pilot project is sponsored by Quang Binh, Energy Assistance France and the Schneider Electric Foundation.
The scheme, expected to start generating power by the end of June, will operate like a non-profit business.
