Elia buys Vattenfall's German grid assets with eye to offshore wind
Elia, owner of Belgium’s electricity grid, has purchased German transmission system operator 50Hertz from Vattenfall for €810m ($1.1bn), claiming the deal will make central Europe’s power grid friendlier to offshore wind farms and other renewables.
