Spanish wind power production hits new record
Spain’s wind power production hit a new peak of 12,171 MW, according to grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE).
The new peak occurred at 12.40 local time on 5 December, surpassing the previous peak of 11,693 MW, which occurred on 14 January. REE said that it does rule out a new peak occurring in the course of the day.
Spain’s wind power industry added nearly 2.46 GW of new capacity in 2009 – the highest amount in Europe, bringing the total to almost 19.2 GW.
