Suzlon completes Duke's Silver Sage project ahead of time

Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon says it has completed the 42 MW Silver Sage wind farm in the US two months ahead of schedule.

Suzlon built the wind farm in Cheyenne, Wyoming for Duke Energy. It consists of 20 Suzlon S88 2.1 MW turbines. Duke now has 130 MW of installed power from Suzlon S88 turbines in Wyoming and West Texas.

Duke has power purchase agreements in place for Silver Sage’s output with Cheyenne Light Fuel & Power, a utility subsidiary of Black Hills Corp., and Colorado-based Platte River Power Authority. In addition to supplying and building the turbines, Suzlon is providing operations and maintenance at Silver Sage through a five-year service agreement with Duke Energy. Suzlon also supplied the 14 S88 turbines in use at Duke Energy’s nearby Happy Jack Windpower Project, a 29-MW wind farm that entered commercial operation in September 2008.

Suzlon has more than 1,600 megawatts of wind turbine capacity installed in the US Taken together with its Repower subsidiary, Suzlon is third largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world.
