Wind sector is steeling itself to venture into the deeps

For deep-water wind, traditional mono-piles will not do. Last week, the UK Carbon Trust began the process of sifting through over 100 proposals for new-design foundations that should make it more economic to switch on wind turbines in water depths down to 60 metres — and beyond.
