Ausra wins boiler bid for Jordan solar thermal project
Ausra, the California solar-thermal OEM, will build a solar steam boilers for a 100 megawatt project being developed in Ma’an, Jordan.
MENA Cleantech AG is planning the JOAN1 concentrated solar power (CSP) project to offer dispatchable, 24-hour power electricity generation thanks to a back-up fossil-fuel boiler.
According to Ausra, this would be the world’s first large-scale, direct steam CSP plant. Planned for construction in 2011 and operation in 2013, the plant will employ Ausra’s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector technology. It will be dry cooled.
Ausra is planning to build a boiler manufacturing facility in Jordan to supply the project.
