New research has found strong indications of "vast, untapped geothermal resources" beneath areas of ocean floor around the world, with the potential to make a major contribution to global green energy supplies.
A team of scientists working for French geophysical giant CGG identified this potential by focusing on what is described as "magmatically active ocean floor spreading centres and adjacent flooded rift systems occurring in all the world’s major oceans".
