Technology is the life-blood of the energy industry and for the renewables sector the next five years will be fundamental to accelerating progress already underway. A great deal of discussion rightly surrounds the development of ultra-large offshore wind turbines, next-generation PV and new storage concepts, but technologies such as cloud-computing, machine-learning, autonomous airborne and underwater robots, and cryptocurrencies are going to be key to the global energy transition too.
