Regional Sales Manager -ASEAN Region (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia based)

About the position:

With an annual turnover of over US$ 1 billion and installed capacity of almost 2GW, our client is one of the world’s leading organisations in the renewable energy sector. For over 15 years, they have been developing, planning, financing and operating power plants and systems that use regenerative energies –wind, solar and bio energy.

Their solar business unit plans, constructs and operates solar power systems on rooftops and open spaces in every size all over the world. By 2012, they plan to build photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of over 2,000 MW.

Driven by the introduction of a new renewable energy incentive system in the ASEAN countries and Australia for roof-top and ground-mounted Photovoltaic systems, our client have just established a regional headquarter in Singapore and further develop offices in the region to expand its business in the APAC market building a sustainable long term presence in Asia & Pacific.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sale of Solar Photovoltaic systems and the successful closure of EPC and lease contracts for free field, rooftop and Off-grid systems. For this purpose he/she will lead sales representatives or sales teams in the ASEAN region and report to the regional HQ in Singapore. The candidate identifies clients, prepares and presents comprehensive EPC offers and negotiates and closes contracts with large rooftop owners or investors looking for turnkey services.

Development and execution of the sales strategy for the East Asia based on the existing business plan

Offer preparation, RFP, RFQ, TOR evaluation and bid preparation for On & Off-grid projects.

Development of Sales kits and standards for Lease-and EPC projects

Negotiating & closing of EPC and lease contracts in line with corporate legal requirements

Building a solid pipeline of profitable rooftop and free field projects

Adaptation of existing lease models and contracts to East Asian requirements

Close interaction with specialized departments and the Group’s HQ in Europe

Design and management of effective responsibilities and goals for the sales team

Creation and regular update of project pipelines

Monitoring and management of sales targets

Managing the approved budget for the department

Support of the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process of other business units in the group

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate: At least 7 years of successful track record in a leading sales role with key accounting experience for technically and legally complex products and agreements within southeast Asia with a focus on Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines

Strong Business Development experience from an EPC environment

Deep insight and strong network into the Asian property market with focus on commercial buildings and multi property ownerships

A graduate with an Engineering degree, Master in Business Administration or equivalent experience

Background in Real Estate, Infrastructure or Conventional Power

Ideally have key contacts with Utility and Construction players

Passion and interest in renewable energy

The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead a small and geographically dispersed sales force as well as to operate and navigate within an international company

He/she needs to be able to demonstrate successful relationship building ability across a broad range of levels from building owners, to political stakeholders and senior executives

A team player with exceptional communication skills, a self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for supporting renewable energies

The candidate must be willing to travel extensively within the East Asian region and occasionally to Germany

Fluent written and spoken English and one of the regional Asian languages (Mandarin, Thai, Bahasa)
