About the position:

Primat Recruitment is an established recruitment consultancy with specialist resourcing skills in the Oil & Gas sector. We are also part of the world-renowned AMEC Group.

Right now, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Project Director to be based in Nigeria.

You will assist in providing a single point of contact for the client and customer for all activities associated with the projects. This will include achieving the contract objectives (PDP SPDO’s) as well as developing people/systems and influencing a positive client image in Nigeria.

Key aims and objectives are as follows, where you will ensure:

  • Customer satisfaction is achieved for the contract
  • Expected profit levels yearly and with expected cashflow profile
  • Best practice is utilised wherever possible
  • Local staff are utilised, trained and developed where possible
  • Clients are not exposed to unethical work practices
  • Clients maximise contract potential
  • “Right First Time” service to customer
  • All work is exercised in such a manner that safety is not compromised.

Prime responsibilities and duties are as follows, where you will assist in:

  • Developing relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ensuring each project is efficiently managed and meets its own expected objectives
  • Ensuring client systems are available to support the projects.
  • Supporting and encouraging good safety and security practices
  • Ensuring all work is done to the required quality
  • Ensuring good and clear communications and reporting are achieved
  • Training and developing personnel
  • Ensuring Nigerian Content Directive requirements are achieved
  • Ensuring processes are in place for proper Supplier and Subcontractor selection
  • Ensuring client is adequately informed of Contract status.

Essential Qualifications/Training

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
  • Chartered Engineer and member of an appropriate engineering institution

Essential Experience

  • Ability to manage contractors’ engineering resources across all disciplines and all aspects of engineering design and construction for all oil and gas projects
  • Experienced with sound technical background and wide ranging expertise
  • Strong experience in contract management and commercial management
  • Experienced in man management techniques, including motivation, and good at team forming and team maintenance
  • Good communicator
  • Experienced in methods and procedures for quality control, safety, and environmental management
  • Good at developing people and client relationships
  • Has vision and can set clear objectives and right strategy to achieve these objectives
  • Competent understanding of personnel issues.

Desirable:

  • Capable of representing project internally and externally
  • Plays a part in the wider Oil & Gas business sector
  • Understands clients’ systems and procedures.

Personal qualities, aptitudes and skills

  • Strong determination
  • Works towards the development of subordinates
  • Determination to set and achieve objectives and goals
  • Well experienced in all areas of Projects (ie E, P & C)
