Northern States says lower carbon emissions – 320,000 tonnesannually - and reduced customer costs are among the project’s benefits.
“Wind energy is a valuable, low-cost substitute for naturalgas and other fuels right now,” says utility chief executive Dave Sparby,adding that wind provided a “valuable hedge to rising and volatile fuel priceswell into the future.”
A unit of RES America would develop the project and thentransfer ownership to Xcel Energy.
